Mtn Dew, Doritos & Xbox One | Every 2 Minutes PAX Prime Launch


In collaboration with PAX, Mountain Dew, and Doritos, Motive developed an engaging native event app game that led participants on a quest throughout the Seattle Convention Center and the city itself. Players were on the hunt for QR codes, guided by in-app hints, with the opportunity to use their accumulated QR "points" at a marketplace. This marketplace offered a variety of prizes, from unique t-shirts and hats to high-end sound bars and gaming headphones.

This adventure peaked with a thrilling live auction, where players with substantial points could vie for an Xbox One entertainment system. A total of 30 unreleased gaming systems were up for grabs, awarded to the highest bidders.

This event in Seattle marked the beginning of the "Every 2 Minutes" campaign by PAX, aimed at heightening anticipation for the forthcoming online auction event. Here, fans of Mountain Dew and Doritos could bid on Xbox One systems every two minutes through nightly auctions, starting this fall.

Throughout the event, attendees using the official PAX Prime mobile app, powered by Guidebook, were encouraged to find "Every 2 Minutes" QR codes hidden across the convention center and iconic Seattle landmarks. Participants gathered points to redeem for prizes at the Mtn Dew/Doritos Marketplace or to use in a live auction held during the event.

The event saw nearly 6,500 participants engage with over 100 QR codes more than 155,000 times collectively. At the marketplace, brand ambassadors assisted attendees in real-time, exchanging points for prizes, ranging from exclusive apparel to premium audio equipment. The weekend concluded with a live auction, attracting over 1,500 attendees, where 30 Xbox One systems were auctioned, offering winners an early taste of the new gaming console.

The live auction featured a professional auctioneer and an electric atmosphere, with bids shouted and "Sold!" announcements echoing. Participants also enjoyed complimentary snacks, drinks, and music throughout the night.

The event's impact was felt on social media and beyond, with nearly 2,000 tweets reaching 5 million followers and generating close to 415 million media impressions. This buzz led to a significant increase in sign-ups for Every2Minutes.com, setting the stage for the online auction's launch.
