Hi, I’m Poppy Noir!
Hi there! I'm a Biewer Terrier, the OG 🦫 BVR, your favorite pup from Wisconsin! I absolutely adore lake life and getting spoiled every day. Cheese is my favorite treat, and I can't get enough of tummy rubs. Summers are the best on the boat, especially when I get to jump in and swim to my mom. In the winter, I love soaking up the sun in St. Pete with my mom and grammy. Pretty much, I just love being outside and in the sun. Playing outside is a blast, especially when I get to bark at all the furry friends who stroll by my corner. Life is paw-some here!

About Biewer Terriers

History
The Biewer Terrier originated from the breeding efforts of Werner and Gertrud Biewer in Germany during the 1980s, who produced tri-color Yorkshire Terriers. Despite initial resistance and lack of recognition from the German Kennel Club, the breed gained significant support in the U.S., especially after Mrs. Biewer joined the Biewer Terrier Club of America in 2007. A pivotal moment came in 2007 when Mars Veterinary geneticists confirmed the Biewer Terrier as a distinct breed through DNA analysis, identifying dominant traits from the Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, and Havanese/Bichon Frise. This scientific validation marked the Biewer Terrier as the first breed recognized as purebred through genetic study, though it initially faced skepticism and was often dismissed as a "designer dog" or a Yorkie with a recessive gene.

AKC
Welcome the Biewer (pronounced Beaver) Terrier to the American Kennel Club’s Toy Group. As the AKC’s 197th recognized breed, this delightful little dog has swiftly climbed the ranks since its U.S. arrival in 2003. Recognized for its long, tri-colored, silky coat and feathered tail, the Biewer Terrier stands out with its sassy walk and neat ponytail. Gaining full AKC recognition in record time, it joined the Foundation Stock Service in 2014 and the Miscellaneous Class in 2019. Co-founders Myrna Torres and Gayle Pruett have been instrumental in the breed’s U.S. success, leading the Biewer Terrier Club of America.
