Do Things That Don’t Scale
In the startup world, doing things that don’t scale might seem like a misstep, but in reality, it’s often the key to laying a strong foundation. As I reflect on my journey with Petalfox, starting this blog in 2018 and still following these principles today, I realize that the manual, hands-on efforts we invested early on were crucial. From painstakingly detailed shipping processes to personally engaging with our initial users, these non-scalable actions provided invaluable insights and fostered deep connections that have fueled our growth.
While these tasks might seem cumbersome, they offer a unique opportunity to test theories, understand customer needs, and build a loyal base. As we’ve evolved and refined our systems, embracing these non-scalable practices has allowed us to adapt and improve continually. In the end, it’s these foundational efforts that pave the way for more effective scaling strategies and long-term success.
